This is exactly right—and it maps directly onto what we refer to as the New Human…
As AI absorbs more routine cognitive work, the human edge doesn’t disappear. It concentrates. It shifts toward judgment under ambiguity, learning velocity, coordination across functions, and the ability to redesign work when the assumptions change. Those are the bookends of the sandwich.
Human → AI → Human only creates real leverage when the first human sets the right problem, context, and constraints, and the second human applies judgment, consequence-checking, and learning velocity to the output. Garbage in still produces garbage out. Blind trust still produces fragile results. In volatile conditions that gap becomes existential, because AI is excellent at patterns drawn from what has already happened and far weaker at novel trade-offs, weak signals, values-based calls, and second-order effects.
The companies that win aren’t the ones that remove humans from the loop. They’re the ones that deliberately position human judgment where it compounds—on both ends of the sandwich—and treat AI as the amplifier in the middle. That’s how you turn disruption into capability instead of just risk.
